Moths
by Filip Hnízdo Tracks: 6 Released: 2013Not Just a Haunted House
Lyrics
You looked out at the six of them as they played in your yard,
They think it’s worth it. It’s not.
This is not just a haunted house.
They’re all relaxed, they don’t know the walls cry and the worms cause heart attacks.
They’ve already got a few crawling to their backs through their rucksacks and ghost hunting packs.
They’d never wake up quite the same,
If they ever woke up again.
They think you’re going to wait until it’s dark.
How silly to follow that trail of blood and bones across the park.
They’re on your turf now, you’re going to show how many nightmares six imaginative brains allow. It’s six.
Mariah’s first and she’s a brave one she’s going crawl out from her grave one day but first you’re going to send her on her way there.
Given what she starts to hear, she should just turn away in fear, her bones cry get me out of here but she still says "all clear". And they’re doomed for sure.
This is not just a haunted house.
This is not just a haunted house.
The door closes behind them and you’re happy to already find them shivering.
Lauren nibbles at her fingernails. You make her fall right off the rails. You make her fingers taste like chocolate - here’s the greediness she’ll need soon she’s agreed that she is better off with none, she bites them off one by one.
And she doesn’t stop there, her elbows taste like peppermint. Her skin it folds like warm fresh dough.
Isn’t it terrible? You’ve made poor Lauren edible. She picked the wrong dinner venue, found herself on the specials menu. She’s gone.
This is not just a haunted house.
This is not just a haunted house.
Barney runs right up the stairs claims his new territory, the tentacles that greet him, shriek and tell a different story. They tangle him in spikey green as his waistline goes down, the space between his legs and knees is quickly turning brown.
He makes a whimpering sigh but before he can cry he realises he’d better off just stop the sound and die. He’s gone.
This is not just a haunted house.
This is not just a haunted house.
Doris brought a knife but that could never save her life she’s found a thousand more awaiting in the kitchen. Decapitation is too nice they pin her up and make a slice watch her drain onto the foreheads of her friends.
What’s that coming from the ceiling? I’ll tell you it’s not a comforting feeling.
This is not just a haunted house.
You next focus on Pepito and he just runs and says "I’ll veto anymore". He knocks himself out on the frame of the front door.
Malcolm and Mariah could be lovers. That’s if either of their souls ever recovers. The curtain turns and smothers him until his blue skin matches both her eyes. And that’s where the romance dies.
Mariah says stop. As she hears his body drop. Says "I’ve had enough of this. I’ll give this horror show a miss." She rips the curtain down.
"Can I have this house now?
I’ve paid my way with their lives.
You don’t know what power survives.
Just leave it with me.
"This is not a haunted house.
You’re out of your depth.
Now turn the lights back on
and help me deal with this mess."
Lover Lover Be My Cover by Dory Previn
Lyrics
Lover lover be my cover
Till the night begins to fade
Oh the demons i have danced with
Lover lover i'm afraid
To fall asleep
The night is dark and deep
And i am so afraid to sleep
To fall asleep and dream
Lover lover let you body
Be my curtain be my shade
I'm well acquainted with confusion
Lover lover i'm afraid
To fall asleep
The night is dark and deep
And i am so afraid to sleep
To fall asleep and dream
Something waits
'neath the water
Shapes and shadows drifting near
Someone watches
In the darkness
Lover won't you make him disappear
Hold my tense and tired body
I am scared to close my eyes
How i wish
The reassuring sun would rise
Lover lover be my cover
So those demons won't parade
'round me while i lie defenseless
Lover lover i'm afraid
To fall asleep
And dream
Lover lover be my cover
So those demons won't parade
'round me while i lie defenseless
Lover lover i'm afraid
To fall asleep
The night is dark and deep
And i am so afraid to sleep
To fall asleep
And die
Poltergeists
Lyrics
Ghosts in the bedroom
We don't turn out the lights.
When we undress
We're like poltergeists
Reaching for anything
We'll throw it around
Sentiment and underwear
Coming crashing to the ground.
The sheets were pressed against the bed,
You and no place to hide.
We left the window open,
And this heartache crawled inside.
This room’s on fire but the flames are cold.
I’d try to say I like it but sound middle of the road
A one way trip and it’s someone else’s eyes
A parting in the clouds I like, to sunburn-sunny skies
Territorial
Lyrics
I spent three long weeks in the same old room
Listening to sirens as you’re howling at the moon
And blood is dripping from your misunderstood jaws.
As the pleasure you’re inflicting gets crushed between your pedicured paws.
What’s the problem, do you need a change? Councillors
blocked the extension to your hunting range again
You tried to make an appeal, then make a deal
But they didn’t believe that your stories were real.
I’ll take home your daughters, slice them up into quarters,
While their eyes are still smiling at how cool it is.
To die like books they were reading, see the literature bleeding
Its way into a world they didn't like anyway.
What do you say?
The Thing in the Bath/Embraced
Lyrics
You felt a chill when you heard the crack,
The boys went out for ice-cream and they never came back,
The shape in the mirror’s like an abstract painting
You should be running but you feeling like fainting.
Wrap up tight
It’s always too cold.
Pale white light.
Do you feel that old?
As the thing in the bath melts your features away,
You blink for a second and it’s really a day.
It’s not the radio making that sound.
Get ready for a shock when you turn around.
I feel like dancing every time you go and do that.
Turn up at the door with a hand and a smile on your face.
You ring the bell on the gateway to hell,
And I’m happy that you’re here.
You make a mockery of fear but I’m still running.
Instantaneous flight, horrified by my lack of light.
All the moths flew to your arms when I first set eyes on you.
Pain is surrounding again, but it can wait until this day is done,
Or maybe the next one or just haunt someone better while I try out this one thing.
I’ve met a girl,
Could be a fun thing.
I heard a crash
Sounds like a drum thing
I feel alone
Except for one thing
And it’s you.
A city of lights. You’ll be my lover tonight.
An apocalypse drowned out by sound,
I don’t think I’m ever going to turn around.
And I walk along the river through the bustle of a thousand faces I don’t know.
A glimpse of cinema posters fighting for attention row by row.
A glimpse of inspiration then another distraction.
Thirty life changes happen and there’s no reaction.
And I’m off for a moment again but I’m back under the same moon.
Pass under your arches, no need for goodbye because I’m back quite soon.
I stay quite busy while you’re cooking fun.
It’s like I’m standing in the centre of the rising sun and it’s every day.
With you and this. So much to miss. A city of bliss.
The Pleasure Machine
Lyrics
It feels like twenty years, but it isn’t even two.
I get a call from you, you say you’ve got too much to do.
But you’ve spent too long breathing out,
That’s not all talent is about.
Enjoy it while it last but it will last forever so I guess you’re fine.
You can think about your work again in time.
There’s a bar and there’s no space for struggle.
You can laugh away your stress and trouble.
Here’s a distraction that is worth, more than your worries on this earth.
And I’ve a feeling it could make your working better.
Why don’t you just step inside it?
I’ve got a feeling that you’re going to like it.
I’ll give you the keys, give you the keys to the pleasure machine.
I’ll give you the keys, give you the keys to the pleasure machine.
